Guide to listening to your child read

Dear Parents,

We have noticed that some children have not been reading regularly at home since Christmas  and this is causing us some concern in class. Regular reading at home is by far the very best way to help and support your child and help them to become fluent confident readers. Those children that read regularly at home often find class work a little easier.

Please help us by listening to your child read  twice each week,  then sign the reading card and return the book to school.

To encourage the children  in class we have once again laucnhed our  Year 3 Reading Racetrack Challenge. Please encourage your child to take part at home. If you have any concerns regarding reading then please do call in and see us and we will do our best to help.

At the end of this term just before Easter the children will enjoy a special treat, so it is really important that they are taking part in our class challenge. Thank you very much for your support.

Year 3 Curriculum

 First Holy Communion Arrangements 2018

Year three had a fabulous holiday in Llandudno and really enjoyed seeing all the sights. Everywhere they went people were very impressed with their super behaviour and good manners. The weather was quite kind to us and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We would like to thank all our parents for allowing the children to take part in this wonderful experience and we hope you enjoy our holiday snaps!

First Forgiveness

On Saturday 18th March Year 3 came together with Father Ravi, family, friends and teachers to receive First Forgiveness for the very first time.     It was a very special day for all the children as they took the next step in their Faith Journey. Many thanks to Mrs Hunter for preparing the children so well over the last few weeks and for also organising a beautiful service that the children will always remember. Special thanks also go to Mrs Bailey for giving up her time to lead parents' meetings to help families prepare for this special moment.

Year 3 are currently enjoying Drama Workshops with Miss Rowe on Tuesday afternoons. These afternoons are always great fun as we develop our performance, speaking and listening skills. Much of our Drama work is related to our Adventure and Mystery literacy work 'Zzaap and the Word Master'. We have been developing our understanding of settings, characters, plot, dilemma and resolutions.

Year 3 continue to grow and develop in the juniors and have made such progress since September. They have now adjusted to the new routine and a different more independent style of learning.

There is still an awful lot for the children to remember so please help them to get organised. Packing school bags the night before is a great idea! Reading books, diaries and homework all need to be brought to school on the correct day. The children feel more confident and happy in school when they are well organised.

A regular bedtime is really important too, as tired children are not always receptive to learning!

Please encourage your child to learn some
